Discovery Chess League

Powered by Discovery Center at Stony Point

Your school's chess team. Your season starts here.

Practice, coaching, teammates, and Game Days — the youth sports experience, on a chessboard.

For families

It's a team sport. Here's your child's season.

If your child has played soccer or basketball, you already know how this works.

Tryout-free check-up

Like a skills evaluation

The Compass Check-Up helps coaches get to know your player. It's a starting point, not an entrance exam.

Team practice

Like weekly practice

Your child meets with their school club each week to learn, drill, and play.

Real coaching

Like a coach on the sideline

Coaches teach strategy, tactics, and good sportsmanship — not just free play.

Teammates

Like wearing the jersey

Players play for their school, cheer each other on, and win or learn as a team.

Conditioning

Like drills at home

Short puzzle practice and homework keep their chess muscles sharp between sessions.

Game Day

Like weekend games

Match Days bring school teams together to compete. Parents are welcome to come watch.
